So Many Books, So Little Time

I guess it’s about time to actually make this list on paper. I’ve been unoffcially assembling a “Books I Need to Read Before I Die” list since high school. Some I want to read, some I feel a need to read. Here’s a start…

I have a Goodreads account, it just doesn’t get updated terribly regularly. Throw me an email or a facebook message if you want to connect with me there. I won’t promise that I’ll be terribly interesting to follow.
**updated 12/20/13

What’s sitting in the pile by my bedside or on the front page of my Kindle:

The Decoration of Houses, Alexandra Stoddard (because if there was a “What Not to Wear” for houses, I’m pretty sure I’d qualify for that, too)

The Wolf at Twilight, Kent Nerburn (annual fiction read, well overdue –it’s been sitting on the shelf for months now and I’m kicking myself for waiting so long)

One Thousand Gifts, Ann Voskamp (slowly reading through this one –this is a meditate-your-way through sort of book)

And these are in the “to read” list:

The Cost of Discipleship, Dietrich Bonhoeffer (currently still reading this one, started 5/7/09)

Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy, Eric Metaxas  –started this one on my Kindle. No, I haven’t finished the above. –What? Stalling? Me? …Nah.

Beowulf (because Sam says I need to)

Your Money or Your Life, Dominguez and Robin finished this one this summer!

Knowing God, J.I. Packer (started this one again in late March, …plodding through it, but it’s good!)

more stuff by Wendell Barry

more stuff by Annie Dillard

Mere Christianity, C. S. Lewis (I’ve read it, just in pieces and not as a whole cover to cover)

A Million Miles in a Thousand Years, Don Miller (finished this a few months ago –enjoyed this one even more than Blue Like Jazz)

Traveling Mercies, Anne Lamott finished this earlier this spring!

Anne of Green Gables series, L.M. Montgomery (No, I really haven’t read these yet. I may get a chance to read this with the girls -should be fun)

The Irrational Season, Madeleine L’Engle (because it’s the only book of the Crosswicks Journals I haven’t read yet, and I loved the others)

Tuesdays with Morrie, Mitch Albom

Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, Dee Brown (still working through this, as of 8/27/12)

Animal, Vegetable, Miracle, Barbara Kingsolver

In Defense of Food, an Eater’s Manifesto, Michael Pollan (finished this one sometime over Christmas, I think)
