…Speaking of music

Just a fun project I did a couple of evenings ago after the kids went to bed. I put together what I call a “Life Soundtrack,” songs that I remember from growing up or that just take me back somewhere else in my life when I hear them. Thanks to the advent of the MP3, I could finally do this without having to borrow every CD my friends own, or having to buy them myself. Here’s my list. I don’t claim that it’s all good music, just stuff I like or liked at one point in my life. Sorry about the weird spacing. Some of this was copied and pasted, so when I tried to add new ones in, it messed it up. If you bug me enough about it, I might explain why they’re on the list…

Isn’t She Lovely, Stevie Wonder
Sailing, Christopher Cross
What a Fool Believes, Doobie Brothers
The Tide Is High, Blondie

Uptown Girl, Billy Joel

Karma Chameleon, Culture Club

When Doves Cry, Prince
We Said Hello, Goodbye (Don’t Look Back), Phil Collins
Too Many Times, Michael W. Smith
Silent Love, Russ Taff
Mandolin Rain, Bruce Hornsby and the Range

Fast Car, Tracy Chapman
Owner of a Lonely Heart, Yes
Take The Long Way Home and Lord Is It Mine, Supertramp
Personal Jesus, Depeche Mode
Nightswimming, REM
Pride (In the Name of Love), U2
Regret, New Order

  1. For my thirtieth birthday, I picked a song to represent each year of my life, and put them on two cds. It made for a very odd listen.

  2. I want a copy! People’s life soundtracks are very interesting. And I want an explanation for the songs. I bet you’d never guess we have a couple of those in common. 🙂
